Pausing an hour-long Python crash course, I couldn't help but notice the stark differences in syntax compared to my familiar territory of JavaScript. The idea struck me – why not document these differences as I transition? So, at 2:52 am on the 13th of January 2024, I find myself typing away, eager to establish a foundation for the articles that will inevitably follow.

The Genesis of my Tech Journey:

My journey into tech began in 2020, spurred by the idleness brought about by the pandemic. Initially driven by a sense of curiosity and the desire not to waste time, I started learning frontend development. However, this venture took a more serious turn in December 2021 when the urge to 'get my life together' resurfaced.

Misconceptions and Realities:

With no network of tech connections, my initial approach to learning was somewhat complacent. The mantra "There's money in tech!" echoed, but the harsh realities of the industry were yet to unfold. Entering a bootcamp with promises of a paid internship after six months, I fervently worked towards that goal. However, as months passed, bills piled up, and the promised opportunities remained elusive.

A Shift in Focus:

The realization hit hard – HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were insufficient; I needed to delve into React, Sass, Next.js, TypeScript, and more. The stress was palpable, frustrations mounted, and the initial zeal began to wane. In a bid to meet financial obligations, I even ventured into dropshipping (sneakers & wristwatches -Island The Plug), finding a temporary reprieve.

The Interim Period:

Balancing learning with the demands of academics proved challenging. Graduation marked a turning point, but the spark for frontend development had dimmed. The light had gone out, yet a curiosity for backend development emerged, prompting my decision to explore this new facet of technology.
